Care and Connection

The Deacons

The Deacons are responsible for leading the congregation’s care of its members. Often, this effort focuses on our elder members, many of whom are homebound or face other challenges. However, Deacons facilitate the care of the whole congregation and have systems to respond to the needs of all ages.

Monthly Breakfasts

Men's and Women's Breakfasts meet monthly at MPUC, usually in the Merriam Lexington Social Hall and accessible remotely by Zoom. Women’s Breakfast meets on the second Saturday, and Men's Breakfast on the third Saturday

All MPUC members and guests are welcome to attend these breakfasts.. If you would like to be added to the list for the reminder email sent during the week prior to the breakfast, please notify the office.

Each breakfast has their own traditions — contact the office if you’d like more details. Both breakfasts are opportunities for warm fellowship and strengthened connections.

MPUC is an Open and Affirming/More Light church, and people of all gender identities are more than welcome at these breakfasts. Please feel free to attend whichever breakfast feels most relevant and comfortable for your gender identity.

Congregational Fellowship

The Congregational Fellowship Committee works to engage members in cooking and sharing meals to create connections as a community. ConFell works with other committees to host the all-church potlucks, pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, social hours, soup dinners, ice cream socials, music and other events that align with the liturgical calendar and celebrate the seasons of the church. We also offer catering services for receptions to raise funds for the purchase of kitchen equipment and other operational expenses of the church.
