Ministry Coordinator and Seasonal Planning
A new role on Session this year is the Ministry Coordinator. The primary duty for the Ministry Coordinator this year is to create and implement a new process for jointly planning all our programming. In the past, each Ministry Team (formerly committees) would plan their own events and put them on the church calendar. When there were calendar conflicts, Adam would help them figure it out. We are moving to a process where we work together months in advance to plan the next church season.
We Call It Seasonal Planning
Seasonal Planning is the way ministry teams will work together to create our church programs and calendar. We are currently working on our first go-around at this. Starting at our Session meeting in June, people brought forth ideas for Creation Season/Stewardship Season, which runs from September – November. Our goal is three-fold. First, to get our schedule of events sent months in advance so people know what’s coming. Second, tie the events to the themes for the Season we are in. Third, to work creatively across teams to make the events happen. A good example of this cross-team work is the Congregational Fellowship Ministry Team and members of the Men’s Breakfast Group working together on the church BBQ in August.
After the initial Seasonal Planning meeting, ministry teams will work together to finalize room reservations and logistics with the Office Administrator and complete the planning details and volunteers for the events. If a ministry team comes up with an idea for an event or program after a season has started, they will work with the Ministry Coordinator and Office Administrator to see how the event might fit into the Season and Calendar.
