Who We Are

Macalester Plymouth United Church is a community of faith affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the Presbyterian Church (USA).

We are Open to All: While many friends and members live within a brief walk of our front doors, we serve our entire community and welcome any and all who wish to worship with us. We provide Christian education for the very youngest through Godly Play and for all others though Sunday School, youth programs, and Adult Education.

We are a More Light church, joining with others in seeking the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of faith in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are also Open and Affirming, with other UCC congregations, in ensuring that people of all sexual orientations are welcome in our full life and ministry.

We welcome everyone—no matter where they might be on their spiritual journey.

We take Action: At Macalester Plymouth United Church we challenge each other to take action as our faith and the teachings of Jesus direct us. Both the youth and adults annually embark on mission trips, through our Mission and Social Justice efforts we are committed to making a difference in homelessness and hunger in our community.

We have for many years been a Just Peace church, committed to peace-making in our community and in the wider world.

Through the board of Deacons and others we place special emphasis on serving those in the greatest need, those who are ill or hungry or in grief or who live without hope.

Ask us about ways to get involved, for the Lord’s work calls to us every day.

God is Still Speaking: Our beliefs are firmly rooted in the reformed traditions of the Presbyterian and UCC denominations. We recognize the Holy Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and we first and foremost come together for the Worship of God. We look to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to guide our thoughts and actions.

And… God is Still Speaking.
