Last fall, a group of over 20 church members participated in “White Privilege: Let’s Talk” a resource for transformational dialogue created and distributed by the United Church of Christ. We heard from many people who wanted to attend but couldn’t. So, we are offering it again.
Rev. Adam Blons and Sheryl Livingston (who participated in the fall) will co-facilitate a repeat of the program this spring on Sundays from 11:30am to 1pm starting on April 29, 2018, and continuing until June 24 (skipping Memorial Day weekend). We will gather in the Plymouth Room (please bring a bag lunch) for a 90 minute exploration and discussion of the curriculum and the issues it raises.
This 8 week series features the voices of Traci Blackmon, John Dorhauer, and other leaders from the denomination speaking candidly about race and faith. Topics include The Spiritual Autobiography Told through the Lens of Race, Whiteness as the Norm, The Cash Value of Whiteness, and On Becoming an Ally.
Space is limited to 15 so please RSVP by calling or emailing the church office. We will keep a waiting list as well in case spaces open. Childcare will be provided upon request. Feel free to invite guests for this important dialogue.
