Looking ahead, we have some REALLY fun things coming up in the next few months – so here’s the plan!
September: Mac Grove Fest
Saturday, September 72-6 p.m. (Set-up begins 1:30 p.m.)
The MPUC Young Adult Group will be in charge of representing MPUC with a booth at the Mac Grove Fest, September 7 at Groveland Fields, 2021 St. Clair Avenue, St Paul.
The purpose of our booth is to get our name and presence out into the neighborhood, especially as a progressive, LGBTQ+ welcoming congregation.
This is a free event. Bring cash for food trucks and games if you want!
I will plan on being there the whole time, but I think it will be more fun to have a large group! So, please reply and let me know which one hour shift (between 2 and 6 p.m.) you can cover. If you can come earlier or stay longer, that would be awesome, but by claiming shifts, we are for sure covered. I will send out periodic updates of which shifts still need people as we get closer.
Please also let me know if you have any ideas for decor and/or ways to engage visitors to our booth. Previously, MPUC had people write prayer flags. So we could do that again or let me know if you have any fresh ideas!
October: Camping at Afton State Park
5 p.m. Friday, October 4 to1 p.m. Saturday, October 5
Our first ever CAMPING ADVENTURE! We will keep it simple and approachable for everyone, which means we are going to plan on one night and stay somewhat close to home. Also, Jared will do all the cooking!
We will be camping at Afton State Park. Cost depends on number of attendees, so please RSVP. It should not be more than $40 per person – including food.
This event will take some coordination. Based on the number of people and gear, there will be different logistical needs. Please RSVP by September 1st. Then, I will let each of you know the final cost (food is included). If the cost is too high for you, you will not be locked in to attending by your RSVP.
Please include the following details when you reply “yes” to attending:
- What camping gear do you own?
- Do you have a car and would you be willing to drive? If so, how many passengers could you take?
- Do you have any food allergies or restrictions?
Looking forward to more fun memories together!
